I just got a Panasonic FZ-1 3DO today, I set it up and it boots just fine into the "insert cd" screen, so I put in a CD, close the drive, the green access light turns on for a bit, and turns off, and nothing, the screen goes blank. The CD is in the exact same spot after leaving it in for a while.

I was wondering what the issue is?/what parts I should purchase to get this neat/weird unit up and running again?

Do I need to purchase a new drive? If so, which one is a good "drop-in" unit?

Do I need to replace some belts or gears? If so, which parts do I need to refurb this unit?

Anything else that I am not thinking of?

Thanks!

Do you hear spinning? Describe noises.

The Creative/Matsushita MKE CR-563 CD-ROM drives can be used apparently, and that sounds right to me, but I have never done it myself.
